Problem: When the University launched a new website, there was little documentation about how to use the CMS platform effectively. An existing guide was offered, but it offered little relevant information.
Research / Analysis: We determined that an update to the existing guide would provide consistency on creative and technical issues, and would be helpful to users.
UX / UI considerations: Although many users from within the network could make changes to the site, they often lacked proper training on the technical and design considerations necessary to publish useful and relevant content.
Solution: We expanded the guide to include important tech specs and step-by-step instructions, with screenshots, to aid new users and to serve as printable PDF desk guide to more seasoned users.
Team Learnings: I led the team to adopt an InDesign-InCopy workflow to allow direct editing of the text by the editor.
